Is Google Getting All Passive-Aggressive Up In Steve Jobs’ Grill?

Steve Jobs has been called many things – a visionary, a criminal, an entrepreneur extra-ordinary, and Santa Claus.

But it appears Google Autocomplete has something to say about Jobs, too. Typing ‘Steve Jobs is’ into Google’s search field will net the curious viewer some equally curious commentary about Apple’s CEO before even slamming the search button, attacking and insulting Jobs from all angles, including race, religion, and… punctuality? Heavens, no!

While it’s every bit as likely that these are just the honest-to-goodness most oft-aggregated search terms, it’s interesting nonetheless, considering the rivalry between the two titanic companies. So, uh, Google… you got, um… you got something to say about your biggest rival’s CEO? Maybe? Then again, all passive-aggression aside, perhaps it’s all in good fun – the first result, ‘Steve Jobs is your new bicycle’, leads to an absurd random Steve Jobs fact generator.

After all, true best friends playfully insult each other all the time, right?

Maybe I need new friends.

Yes. Yes, I just linked to Google. What about it?

NIKE Epic Three-Minute “Write the Future” Film: How ONE Moment When Headlines Are Written is Viewed and Felt Around The World ~ Prepare to Be Inspired

Please…Leave a comment below with ONE WORD that best describes how you FELT the moment this amazing film ends…

…and you can tell me why too, it’s okay ~ sometimes one word in response to something so powerful is just not enough.

My word: STIMULATED

Meaning: I wanted to do more, learn more, be more. Instantly.  I feel like I have FILMS like this inside me and I want to learn how [and teach everyone else how!] to JUST DO IT ~

Nike Football commercial by Wieden+Kennedy

BEAVERTON, Ore.— NIKE, Inc. (NYSE:NKE) today unveils an action-packed film that brings together some of the world’s greatest players to inspire football lovers and sports fans around the world. The epic three-minute “Write the Future” film takes people on a journey that dramatically captures that one moment when headlines are written from a single pass, or one strike can bring a nation eternal happiness, while bringing others to their knees.

Some of the world’s best players, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Didier Drogba, Wayne Rooney, Fabio Cannavaro, Franck Ribery, Andres Iniesta, Cesc Fabregas, Theo Walcott, Patrice Evra, Gerard Pique, Ronaldinho, Landon Donovan, Tim Howard and Thiago Silva, are featured. Special guest cameos are made by tennis legend Roger Federer and basketball superstar Kobe Bryant. Homer Simpson completes the star-studded cast of appearances. The film will be shown on TV for the first time on May 22nd during the European Club Final.

Directed by renowned Hollywood director and producer Alejandro G. Iñarritu (21 Grams, Babel), this epic football journey unfolds through a match of goal line clearances, game-winning tackles and lightning footwork that literally send a ripple effect across the world.

Football fans around the world will be able to experience the full three-minute film online at nikefootball.com from May 20th at 6pm GMT before it rolls out through global partnerships with Facebook, YouTube and QQ.com on Saturday the 22nd. The spot will then air across 32 countries, sharing the campaign with millions of fans around the world on May 22nd.

This marks the first stage of a journey that will ultimately see fans around the world write their own future through experiences that put them at the center of the action. In June, fans will be able to live like their heroes through a unique experience on nikefootball.com that generates ripple videos and visuals from their own photos and information, placing them at the center stage.

Footballers can then use this creative to build their own Facebook campaign to get noticed and selected for “The Chance” – an elite Nike Academy football camp in partnership with the Barclays Premier League in England that allows players to get scouted and get noticed at the highest level of the game.

“This epic campaign really captures the scale, emotion and impact that one single moment in a football game can have on a player, fan or nation,” said Davide Grasso, NIKE, Vice President of Global Football Marketing. “This is just the beginning of the journey. The next stage allows everyone who loves football to engage and interact in an incredible way.”

The story starts when the viewer is drawn into the heat of battle on the pitch as a ball drops from the air into the path of Didier Drogba. As the world holds its collective breath, Drogba picks his way through sliding defenders and expertly chips the goalkeeper – wild celebrations commence across Africa. But they are curtailed at the last second as Fabio Cannavaro makes a stunning overhead goal line clearance. This game-changing moment propels Cannavaro to pop culture icon complete with television chat show appearances and a song dedicated to his moment of brilliance.

Other global football stars including Wayne Rooney experience how a moment on the pitch can last forever. In one scene, the England striker sees an intercepted pass picked up by midfielder Franck Ribery. The ensuing impact brings a nation to its knees and leaves us to imagine Rooney’s destroyed career and his life as a groundsman, living in a caravan, with Ribery’s image looming large above him on a giant billboard. Fast forward, and Rooney relives the moment, sprints after Ribery and wins the ball back. Personal and national pride restored, we see him receiving a knighthood, with headline-grabbing plaudits, a maternity room full of little Waynes and an effortless table-tennis defeat of Roger Federer. The Rooney ripple effect comes full circle.

Similarly, Cristiano Ronaldo is fouled in a game, and as he prepares to take a vital free-kick for Portugal, we flash forward to see the ripple effect if he scores; a stadium named in his honour and a Film Premiere for a movie of his life.

“Every touch you have in a game has the ability to change the entire course of not just those 90 minutes, but your entire tournament or season,” said Cristiano Ronaldo. “One touch of the ball can be an opportunity to leave your mark on the game and write your own future, or equally a moment missed, that creates a legacy for your opponent with their fans.”

Also unveiled is Nike’s supercharged Elite Series football boots providing new levels of performance for players during the tournament. Nike’s Mercurial Vapor SuperFly II, CTR360 Maestri, Total90 Laser III and Tiempo Legend III all feature a new performance upper to improve on-field visibility and a reengineered outsole to deliver lightweight performance for every style of player. The Elite Series is available to players at all levels and also incorporates Nike Football+, which features exclusive insider access to the world’s best coaches, players and teams for total game improvement.

For Those of You With Siblings: Do You Remember How Important the Front Seat Was?

via nopenope.tumblr.com

I’m pretty sure my head used to explode when my little brother claimed the coveted front seat before I could.

Maybe it was because he was six years my junior and I just didn’t think he’d value it as much as I did - but I can tell you, I misjudged that little boy…he challenged me from day ONE for that front seat.

Today he is an Apache Helicopter Pilot about to head out to serve our country for the third time since the IRAQ war began and I could care less where I sit in a car.

I love you little brother Bobby.

So Many Beautiful Messages & Images in @CreatorsProject's Video Interview of Richie Hawtin [@rhawtin] **A MUST WATCH!**

via thecreatorsproject.com

A Chat with Richie Hawtin

The Creators Project: You are one of the progenitors of techno. How did it first capture your attention?
Richie Hawtin: I grew up in Canada, in Windsor. The Motor Capital of America—Detroit—was right across the river and without this looming dark city right next to my provincial town, I wouldn’t be sitting here right now. When I was 15 or 16, I became bored with what I could do in Windsor and went across the border and found a whole underground of record shops and nightclubs and resale shops. That was the beginning.

What kind of music were you listening to then? No offense, but it must have been tough to find a source for electronic music in a place like Windsor.
When I was growing up radio was quite a big thing, and there were hardly any Canadian radio stations, so we listened to the stations out of Detroit. There were a lot of mix shows and weird electronic shows that were playing early acid house and Chicago house. Before I even went out to visit the clubs, I stayed up all evening listening to the music before going to school the next morning. The more I found out about music, I discovered that what I liked the most was made by people from Detroit. That was a key moment. When you find something you like that’s happening so close to your home you really get into it. It caused me to spend as much time as possible in Detroit.

And that led to DJing?
I started DJing by accident in in ’87 or ’88. My friends in Windsor were too scared to go to Detroit but wanted to dance to the music, so we went down to a nightclub in our hometown and asked if we could play our music. They asked us who was going to DJ. All of my friends pointed to me because I had all of the records. Two weeks later we threw this party, which was super successful, and as soon as the night was over the club-owner offered me a job. But over the next few weeks less and less people came because they got used to it, and five or six weeks later I lost my first steady DJing gig.

You’ve been around long enough to experience the transition from analog to digital instruments, which has undoubtedly transformed your work in unthinkable ways. When you first starting using computers and other digital equipment, what were the immediate benefits?
The reduction in the size of the equipment and expansion of possibilities were invaluable. A lot of my sets in the early days were quite long—six or seven hours—and I would cart around four or five huge boxes of records. Computers did away with all of that and made things more spontaneous.

What’s the next step for you?
Right now the problem I see with performing is breaking the visual barrier. I find it rather uninspiring to play to audience with just laptops in front of you. So I’m experimenting with touchscreens and flat-panel displays. One thing about the days of turntables is that you could see movement and action that you can’t pull off with a laptop, so I am checking out interface methods that enable me to do new things—ways the audience can see my human movements. I am trying to figure out ways to visualize my movements and the connection they have with the music I create.

From ME: I am left in a perfect “YES!” dream state after absorbing Richie Hawtin’s words. There is something very special about him from the way he thinks to the way he relays what he wants to do. I totally connected with his message - I have a feeling it’s because he is expressing himself along with the amazingly beautiful level of production and editing of this video.

My IRL friends and those who follow me closely know my love of DJs and Producers, the experience they create, the MUSIC itself, the creative ways to produce the music, the WHY behind the why….and….video…which allows a second sensory to play along.

“I want to use technology to heighten experiences but always bring people together…” - Richie Hawtin

Isn’t that how we met?

THIS is good…and by good, I mean FABULOUS.

I connected with many things Richie Hawtin said, if you did it too, will you share it?

LYMI,

Zane

Dallas Real Estate News: 3500 Beverly Reduced to $12,500,000

Posted on May 19th, 2010 8:30am by Candy Evans
Filed under Celebrity Homes, Changing market trends in Real Estate, Real Estate, Realtor News, architecture

Listed with Gianna Cerullo at Dave Perry-Miller.  Down from $17,900,000. Which is really upsetting because now I can no longer call it Dallas’ $18 million dollar spec home. Now it’s just a $12 million dollar spec home.

From the MLS description:

Property Description: With a primary goal of creating a timeless environment rather than a specific style , the builder s intent with the creation of this property was to design a home that would mold itself to the owner, not the other way around. A home that would be defined by its owner and their personal sense of aesthetics. This home does not dictate style, but instead is an elegant, well constructed canvas for the owner. Capable of hosting grand-scale events*

Directions: South on Preston. Left on Beverly, home is on NE corner of Beverly and Auburndale Private Remarks: *in an open-air environment with the ease of beautifully finished elevators, elegant formals, elaborate wet bars, and open, spacious rooms, this home also exudes the warmth and includes the amenities that combine livable with luxurious space. Owner financing available. Owner financing!

Just no fun. By the time it actually sells, do you think it will be a $10 million or $8 million dollar spec home?
