GREGORY’S + ERYKAH = SOCIAL GOOD
THE PLACE to be for Fashion’s Night Out Parties definitely turned out to be Gregory’s at Northpark Center.
The only thing that could top hanging out in the uber chic Gregory’s surrounded by shoes and clothes that are so fabulous they can make you salivate is to add the perfect blend of bonus ingredients: Community, Social Good, Photo Booths, Hor d’oeuvres, Hennessy & Moet topped off with a smooth and groovy layer of music by opening DJ A1 and DJ Lo Down Loretta Brown aka Erykah Badu.
SOCIAL GOOD is LOVE
Gregory’s kindly hosted and generously committed to donate 20% of all revenue generated during the event to Badu’s non-profit B.L.I.N.D. ~ including the sales at their Houston location participating simultaneously via live feed through the magic of the interwebs.
As a unique and exclusive bonus, Gregory’s not only commissioned renowned artist RAGHAVA KK to design 3 shirts, they also committed to donate 100% of the proceeds from all the T-Shirts sales during the party as well. A nice tangible spin to the typical fund raiser.

LOVE is B.L.I.N.D.

B.L.I.N.D., a brainchild of Erykah Badu’s, stands for Beautiful Love Incorporated Non-profit Development ~ a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to bringing the culture out of the people to put back into the people; identifying emerging community leaders and supporting their leadership development. B.L.I.N.D. provides community driven development for inner-city youth through music, dance, theatre and visual arts.
There was a cool buzz amongst the party guests as they read that their donations would help launch the B.L.I.N.D. DJ Camp planned for the 2011-2012 School Year. This B.L.I.N.D. program will provide education and access to the dynamic art form of DJing and music producing. The week long after school program will include specialized workshops in mixing, scratching, digital DJ Programs, music production and more. The camp will be offerred free of charge to youth through the support of B.L.I.N.D. and the kindness of corporate sponsorship funds.
The curriculum will be curated by Erykah Badu aka DJ Lo Down Loretta Brown and will feature instruction from a team of award-winning producers and DJs from around the country. B.L.I.N.D. will create a safe, educational and creative environment for children to expand their minds through music and art.
PARTY PICS
There were PLENTY of papparrazzi with fancy cameras taking pics of all the papparazzi worthy happenings + peeps at the party and I will have access to those soon ~ but for now, here are few of the ZANESTYLE PICS (aka iPhone all over the place!) that you are so familiar with
As an intro to these pics - just know this ~ The PARTY WAS AHHHHHMAZING. DJ A1, one of Dallas’ most talented DJs and producers opened the party and set the mood for DJ Lo Down Loretta Brown aka Erykad Badu’s magnetic set. Celebrity host, Fonzworth Bentley, now one of my new favorite people, was so smooth ~ balancing crown engagement, information, pic posing while still managing to upload pics & tweets. Gregory’s staff is sharp, diverse and well versed in fashion just like the rest of the clientele and party guests… **Take a look at Pat Smith in the first pic of the gallery below. She’s wearing a Gregory’s top that I wish was in my closet.
I was happy to meet Gregory’s owners Leslie and Larry Matney for the first time. She’s vibrant and welcoming (gives great hugs!) while he’s magnetic and always tells the perfect story at the perfect time. I found great joy in watching how much attention and love they give out and how they receive it back tenfold. Be sure to view my “Gregory’s Wish List Gallery” at the bottom of this post so you can see just how awesome their STUFF was (and let me know if you need my address….LOL)

Yes…The Dallas Cowboys have already lost Game 1, but let’s remember they hit a milestone last season and just hope for the best this season…Like a mileboulder instead.
When The Cowboys won their first playoff game last season - it was their FIRST post-season win/play-off victory since Dec. 28, 1996 and ended a 4,760-day drought - easily the longest in the club’s proud history. Cameras were rolling when Jerry Jones exclaimed, “demons are GONE!” Guess we forgot to revoke their all-access pass the next week…
I just love going to The New Cowboys Stadium aka Jerry’s World. It’s amazing. I love going there and hanging w/ the FANS as the public spaces are expansive and that place is 100% designed to celebrate CELEBRATION with 100,000 of your closest friends and not even have to stand next to them or spend the entire 3rd Quarter in line for the bathroom.
I’m going to be doing more ZaneologyTV this season merging Zane’s World (Talking to People) and Jerry’s World this season. Who would like to Join me? I could use more camera operators…and “Drink Consumption Partners.”
Thx to all the awesome people who indulged me at this Awesome Game by being fabulous on camera — and for the High Fives. I’m coming back for YOU…and more.
*Spc. Thx to Joseph Morin ( @josephmorin ) and Mike Reedy ( @mikereedy ) for inviting me.
My favorite Quote? As I am watching all the boys walk around with giant pink and yellow margaritas and I tell one of them: ”That drink makes you kinda prance a little….” *Pink is empoweing to men. Especially in drinks — AND…at NFL Football Games. Take note.
Love You, Mean It.

Since we’re all getting used to one another, it would probably help to do a bit of exposition before we get too far along. Before it becomes that thing where we know each other, but one of us doesn’t quite remember the other’s name, and it’s too late for proper introductions. Awkward. Much of FrontRow speaks for itself, but there is one wrinkle that probably needs some explaining.
Twitter will be integral to how we cover music here at FrontRow. Which is to say: you, the reader, the concertgoer, will be integral to how we cover it. At least in one respect: live music.
Unlike a theater production or a gallery show, concerts are generally a one-time-only proposition. So if you weren’t there, it doesn’t help much to read about what you weren’t at, and won’t be able to go to anytime soon. Especially not from someone who probably didn’t pay to get in anyway. That’s more like rubbing it in, right?
But we don’t want to ignore it. On occasion, depending on the band, yes, we will weigh in, because we won’t be able to help it. For the most part, though, it’s up to you, the fans, to tell everyone if they missed out — or if they dodged a bullet.
The way it will work is simple: follow us at twitter.com/D_FrontRow. When you’re out and about, tell us (@D_FrontRow) what you’re seeing/hearing and what you think. Or wait until after, if you don’t want to take your attention away from the band. The next morning, we’ll compile the most interesting tweets into a hive mind concert review.
I’m Zac, by the way.
Dallas just got a little bit cooler. Thank you @D_Front Row - and Hello ZAC :)
Love You, Mean It Ya’ll!
